Since it's nearly Christmas, I thought I should shake things up and move away from the horror genre for a limited time only. In this instant classic Christmas classic, it's Home Alone meets 'The Buddies' franchise interpreted into one film. I came along this film once The Asylum released details on the production and then I came across the release date. The motion picture 'Alone For Christmas' was released in October, which is awfully an odd time of the year to produce a Christmas film. Originally entitled 'Holiday Heist', the film was released on October 15h, 2013. A strategy to release an eventful film that gets you excited for the holidays, I specially present you a special low-budget film produced by The Asylum entitled 'Alone For Christmas'.
The film 'Alone For Christmas' is about a suburban family visits Grandma's house on Christmas Eve, when they leave their dog Bone at home alone tragedy bounds to happen. Burglars who dress up in a variety of disguises for different scenarios enter the house unexpectedly. The Conley residence unfortunately have left their property to visit their parents for the holidays. The family pet named 'Bone' must set up traps featuring around the house to protect the overall residence from unexpected visitors who plan to take their presents away. It's up to 'Bone' to save Christmas once and for all.
Director Joseph J. Lawson whose previously constructed on Asylum productions such as 'Age Of The Hobbits' and his most recognisable work being 'Nazis at the Center of the Earth' has stated a numerous amount of times that since the overall production was shot on a low budget, the film production suffered severely from time constraint. Never less the flaws impacted on the film, I personally enjoyed the film - it got me into the Christmas sprit. 'Alone For Christmas' definitely settles the mood, I felt relaxed throughout the film and enjoyed the ride. Within a total of 12 days to shoot the entire production and 2 days to prepare the overall process, Joseph J. Lawson has expressed that "he received the call from the production company on a Sunday night and started the film on a Wednesday morning. The film is far from perfect but it is rather fun and warm-hearted."
One aspect that seemed to bother me throughout the film was that the weather conditions seemed unrealistic at times. It's supposed to be in December within a winter season and you can see the light reflecting in certain scenes. However, throughout the film - it's get explained. This year is a non-winter holiday, ending with a Christmas miracle. Due to the continuity within the film, this effects the overall realistic look the film. On a positive note - the film 'Alone For Christmas' features a talented cast such as David DeLuise, Kim Little and introducing Jeremy Mascia. The character named 'Jake' who played the antagonist definitely make this film remarkable, I truly hope he receives future roles from participating in the film. But others were a pain to watch such as Davis Cleveland; who is unfortunately on the untalented show 'Shake It Up!' produced by Disney.

'Alone For Christmas' is definitely a film to watch with your family; even though it is designed for television film material. The film 'Alone For Christmas' is an exceptional Christmas film to gather around with your loved ones. Whether you're laughing at the comedic aspect of the film or the use of cheaply produced effects - the overall value of the film is incredible; it shows true dedication to a filmmaker on how to produce low-budget films in such little time. Even though it's far from perfect, it's definitely an enjoyable film to watch. If you're looking for a film similar to 'Home Alone' - this may be the film for you. However; if you're exploring for a film that's produced on a high budget, you're looking at the wrong category. There's also a reference to the film 'Clash Of The Empires' also known as 'Age Of The Hobbits' introduced to the film as well.
